About the project
San Pedro Elementary School Nature Trail
Eagle Scout Community Service Project organized and led by Nikolai Zykanov of Troop 76 - Terra Linda.
In Spring of 2011 Nikolai Zykanov of San Rafael was looking for a community service project to lead as a requirement for his Eagle Scout Rank advancement in Boy Scouts. He asked Julie Lehman, the Garden Coordinator at San Pedro Elementary School, for ideas. After considering various needs around the school Nikolai decided to post signs that identify some of the trees on the campus. They decided to call it the San Pedro Elementary School Nature Trail.
As a complement to the tree identification signs, Nikolai wanted to create a handbook for teachers and students to give more information about the trees on the nature trail. The booklet would help students learn more about the trees. After discussion of how to create the booklet and how to have it printed, it was agreed that a paperless option, of having a webpage about the trees would be best. That is the web section that you are reading now.
